What is Pilates?

Pilates is a safe and effective exercise method that will help you regain balance, mobility, and strength throughout your body. You can practice Pilates with or without specialized equipment created by Joseph Pilates. You will learn to use your own body resistance to help you become more centered and balanced in your body. You can take Pilates' principles and apply them to all other exercises to help you stay strong, flexible, and injury-free.

Rebecca will take her 20 years of experience as a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor to address any pain issues you might have when exercising. Her attention to detail and problem solving will help you learn how to move better in your Pilates sessions. You can take that knowledge to other physical activities and your daily life. You will have body awareness, better posture, and less pain-taking Pilates with Rebecca.

Rebecca says, "Pilates is what I do every day and what I know best. I teach it, practice it, and I love it. I'm so addicted to Pilates, I can't imagine doing anything else. Pilates is a lot like Yoga on equipment. It's a total body workout that focuses on core training with 4 major goals, strength, stretch, stamina, and stability. What kept my interest is how much fun it is when you practice it regularly and how good you feel afterward."

What is Feet-ness?

How you stand on your feet can affect everything in the body above since your feet are your support system. Whether you stand more on the outside or inside of your feet, this imbalance can affect your posture.  The alignment of your bones from your legs to your pelvis can shift with your lifestyle. This shift can also cause pain in your lower back and hips.  Pain in your lower back can originate at your feet and be corrected with some daily foot exercises.

Addressing the weakness in your toes and feet can re-position your pelvis and strengthen your glutes. The feet have many receptors in them, which signal the brain what muscles need to activate. For this reason, Pilates is done barefoot, and the reformer routine begins with footwork. There are reflexology points on your feet that correlate to different parts of the body. The ball of your foot connects to your heart and lungs. The arch connects to the internal organs and the heel to the kidneys.

While most Pilates professionals have some training in the feet and specific exercises for them, Feet-ness trainers have in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the feet, widespread issues, and movements, including the rescue loop to strengthen the feet/toes. The rescue loop used as part of Feet-ness is a much safer and tangible way to strengthen the outer hip foot connection and also has a toe loop as you advance for more of a challenge.

A little daily attention on the feet can go a long way toward creating a connection from the ground and helping you move with grace and efficiency.

Plant-Based Nutrition Expert

Rebecca started eating a plant-based diet after both her father and father-in-law had heart attacks within a short time. Her father-in-law started investigating plant-based diets as a way to get healthy and avoid another heart attack. He shared this knowledge with the rest of the family, and they decided to join him. Rebecca was so amazed at how this way of eating changed her health and her family's health. Even though she was already active and teaching Pilates, she felt so much better. Her parents, husband, and even her sister joined her in plant-based eating. They all had healthy results from no longer needed prescription medication to even running a half marathon. Rebecca decided she wanted to share this knowledge of eating for your body's health, the health of the planet, and animal welfare. She is a graduate of the T. Colin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition course through eCornell. Rebecca is an expert in Plant-Based Nutrition.

High-Quality Virtual Pilates

With the recent closures of gyms and Pilates studios across the country, Rebecca began teaching virtually, offering the same high-quality studio sessions to clients in the comfort of their homes. Class offerings include Classical Pilates mat, Semi-Privates, and Private Sessions. The mat classes feature different themes, with and without props, to keep you challenged. Pilates apparatus sessions are also available for those who have equipment in their home.

Rebecca believes in the art of control, mindfulness, and the ability to change your body with awareness and proper guidance. As a former personal trainer turned figure competitor, she knows firsthand that you need more than willpower to change the body. Get ready to refine your movement patterns, prevent and heal injuries, and get back to feeling amazing in your body, even while exercising at home.

Results with Rebecca

If you have back or knee pain, Rebecca will help you address your body as a whole to help you overcome pain and move freely.

Kathryn says, "Rebecca gave me my life back, allowing my body to move again. With her talent, skills, and compassion, I was able to increase my mobility and decrease pain in my back and knees." Kathryn Baughn

Rebecca is there to help you get what you need, a good workout.

Josh says, "She appreciates that I am not there to chat or hang out; I am there to get stronger. Pilates fits exactly with my mentality as it is always a challenge, and I will never be a master; it's more about the journey. I feel super strong, no back pain, and I like the way I look and feel."

Even if you are a trained athlete, there are new things to navigate in your body as you exercise during pregnancy. Rebecca can help you stay safe during your workouts and help you find the right amount of challenges.

Elena says, "Rebecca is the most amazing teacher; she creates the exact workouts I need, and she knows more about what I am capable of than I am! I made it safely through a second pregnancy, and now in this postpartum period, I have less than a centimeter of diastasis! The strength in my core I just never thought possible is there. I am proud of myself for doing the work but mostly so thankful for her guidance and efforts with me because this never would've happened without her."

She helps you without talking too much but gives you the right cues to find the movement in your body. Rebecca keeps your workouts fresh and right for your body.

Patty says, "I find, in class when we are doing something I am familiar with, I can get very complacent and lazy, so I always appreciate mixing things up or changing up an exercise to make it more challenging."

Rebecca gives you the personalized attention you won't find in a large group class.

Melinda says, "I chose Rebecca Sirkel for my lifetime fitness over Club Pilates. It took one class with Rebecca, and I knew I found a home. Rebecca is always thinking of me! I feel it with her thoughtful workouts and purposeful progressions. Rebecca gave me the gift of returning to the tennis court after a broken leg and a torn rotator cuff. Priceless."
